Pokemon X and Y made me excited for Sun and Moon.
Pokemon Sun and Moon made me nervous for Sword and Shield...

Personally I felt that the title were a bit of a misstep on Nintendo's part. It just doesn't feel like it works with the previous naming conventions, and yes that counts Sun and & Moon too.

@Flamel: I was thinking about it in terms of region - since it looks like it's going to be based in the UK, swords and shields are a prominent part of English history.

Like we're going to get some kind of Arthurian history.

@Flamel: Huh, seems like it does fit the previous naming conventions consider they have been either opposing or opposites that go together. Red versus Blue, Silver and Gold, Ruby and Sapphire(red versus blue again) Diamond and Pearl (Light Red versus Light Blue), Black and White, X and Y (vectors on a grid) Sun and Moon. Sword and Shield goes hand and hand.

@RazorD9: I don't see that with any of these. I don't often think of red and blue as opposites and gold and silver actually go together and aren't opposites. The only ones I agree with are Black, White, X, Y, Sun and Moon. I just feel that they could have done something different and given the same reference or feeling.
@Daz Keaty: I was mostly mentioning the comment in the last Panel but I do agree with you if they pull that off well it would be really neat.
