Nintendo will be charging to play games online in 2018. Current online games like Overwatch do online play so much better and they do it for free with a single purchase of the game. Imagine having to play the likes of Pokemon online - it's online play isn't exactly worth paying money for, is it?

Unless Nintendo update their games to make it worth while, this isn't worth paying for. Not by a long shot.

The below gif is actually all the communication that you can do in game.

I used to be mad about Nintendo's paid online services, but then I found out how cheap it's going to be. Yes, it should be free, but I don't really care about paying $20 a year.

@JinxazuMarai: They said that they're already working on a CORE pokemon game on the switch, though. So it will be a reality eventually.

Ha, we posted at the same time

@MetaFawful: 20 a year isn't too bad, especially considering they're going to be giving out a free classic game every month.

I'd still like better online experiences with games, though.

@Daz Keaty: No no, I was referring to this; "Nintendo will be charging to play games online in 2018." But this only affects the Nintendo switch. 3DS,2DS, and WiiU would remain unchanged by this.

@JinxazuMarai: You know until they cut the wireless communications on those devices like that did a few years ago for the DS and such.

@WriterRaven: Well, the WiiU most likely will get cut due to productions being ceased. 3/2DS have better longevity.
