So this constantly happens to me.
People often refer to the 'Black cat' in the comic, which constantly has me doing a double take because I never know if they mean Daz or Neko. @~@

Someone remind me to get Daz a red scarf for a Mr.Sakamoto cosplay

Don't care who those old nimrods mean, in that universe, it can easily be construed as racist.

I believe the black cat is Daz, Neko would be a brown cat. (This isn't meant to be racist, I'm just pointing out that if they were actually cats and not half cats that's what they would look like.)

It would be funny if off screen there is a true cat(not a catperson but the actual animal) and that the old people didn't even notice Daz and/or Neko

Whether they were superstitious or racist, it can boil down to being stupid and insensitive. Though the double take is funny.

Genetically black!

To all the people saying its racist or insensitive:
Yeah, you could find the sweetest old lady and she would still probably be really racist.

Not only are they thinking of a mirror, but the black cat crossing your path is only bad luck in America.
In Ireland and Britain, it is usually a good omen.
